Privacy Policy
Last updated October 16, 2026.
This policy explains what information Vocagap collects, how it is used and the choices you have. Vocagap is operated by Dzmitry Tselabionak ("we", "us"), the controller of the personal information described here. Contact details are at the end.
In short
- There are no accounts. We never ask for your email address, phone number or a password.
- Your vocabulary, transcripts and recordings are stored on your device.
- Your speech and the words you look up are processed to make the app work. We do not keep them, and they are never used to train AI models.
- We do not sell your information. If you allow tracking when the app asks, we measure which of our ads brought you to Vocagap (see Advertising measurement below).
Information on your device
What you create in Vocagap — your vocabulary, review history, session transcripts, recordings and the name you choose to enter — is stored on your device. You can erase it at any time with Settings → Delete all data, or by deleting the app.
Information we process to provide the app
- Speech and text. During a session, your speech is sent through our servers to AI service providers to be transcribed. When a card is made, the word and the sentence it came from are sent the same way to be translated and explained. This content is processed only to give you the result; we do not keep it, and we never use your voice to identify you. Our AI service providers do not use it to train or improve their models. They may keep it for a limited time only to detect and prevent abuse, as their terms require.
- Installation and usage records. Each installation of the app has its own identifier, which is not linked to your name or any account. With it we keep a record of how much of the service that installation has used and whether it has an active subscription, so we can apply plan limits, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple, and we never see your payment details. We receive your subscription status — the plan, and when it renews or ends — through a subscription management provider.
Analytics and diagnostics
To understand how Vocagap is used and to fix problems, we may collect usage data: which screens you open and which features you use, and crash reports with technical details such as the device model and the error. We do not record the app's screens. This data is linked only to the installation identifier and never includes your transcripts, vocabulary or recordings.
Usage data and crash reports start on. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Usage data & ad measurement, or on this website under Analytics at the bottom of any page.
Advertising measurement
We advertise Vocagap in other apps and on other websites. If you allow tracking when the app asks, it shares your device's advertising identifier and install events with an attribution provider, so we can learn which ad brought you. That provider may pass those events to the ad networks whose ads you came from, and your subscription status is forwarded to it by our subscription management provider. It never shares your words, recordings, transcripts or name. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Tracking).
Separately, while usage data is on, the app reports a few milestones (installing, finishing onboarding, starting a trial, subscribing) to the same provider through Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution. Apple sends these without any identifier, and they work whether or not you allow tracking. Turning off usage data in Settings stops them, and also stops the advertising measurement above.
This website
On vocagap.app we collect which pages you view, including recordings of those pages. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing is collected until you agree. Elsewhere it starts on, and you can turn it off. Once you agree or it starts, analytics data may be stored in your browser. It is not linked to the app or to anything you do there.
Why we use it
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are:
- Providing the app you asked for — processing your speech and text, and keeping the usage and subscription record (performance of a contract).
- Keeping the service secure and preventing fraud and abuse (our legitimate interests).
- Analytics and crash reports — our legitimate interests in understanding how Vocagap is used and fixing problems. You can object at any time by turning usage data off in Settings → Usage data & ad measurement.
- Advertising measurement — your consent, given through Apple's tracking prompt, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings.
- Meeting legal obligations, where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Vocagap, and only as far as the purposes above need:
- cloud hosting and infrastructure providers;
- AI service providers that process speech and text;
- a subscription management provider;
- analytics and crash reporting providers;
- an attribution provider and the ad networks whose ads you came from, if you allow tracking.
These providers process information on our behalf and are required to protect it. Apple handles payments under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business. We do not sell your personal information. Apart from advertising measurement above, which needs your permission, we do not share it for advertising.
International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers operate in the United States, the European Union and other countries. When information about people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Content on your device stays there until you delete it.
- Speech and text sent for processing is not kept by us once the result is returned.
- Installation and usage records are kept for as long as they are needed to provide the service and prevent abuse.
- Analytics and advertising measurement data is kept for a limited period. Delete all data removes the analytics linked to your installation; crash reports expire on their own within 90 days.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can:
- erase everything on your device, and the analytics linked to your installation, with Settings → Delete all data;
- turn usage data and advertising measurement off with Settings → Usage data & ad measurement;
- email support@tsellobenok.dev for anything else, including deleting your installation's usage record.
Because Vocagap has no accounts, we may need your help to find the information that belongs to your installation. We will not treat you differently for using your rights. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Vocagap is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age set by law in your country, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has used Vocagap, contact us and we will delete what we hold.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, the date above changes; please check this page from time to time.
